In the secondary phase there has also been a wealth of opportunities for both day and residential trips.  In the last 12 months these have included a Year 7 day trip to Verulam Park to complete Geography field work and attend a workshop in the Cathedral.  Enriching their understanding of topics covered in Geography, History and RE.  Successful Netball and Rugby sports tours, two night residential trips, which were attended by Years 8 & Year 9 and Year 10 & Year 11.  Languages trips have included Year 9 to Barcelona where they enjoyed a varied programme of activities during the day and the evening; as well as Year 10 who enjoyed a 7 night residential exchange, spending time in a Spanish school, visiting the local area and a trip to Madrid.  Years 10/11 have enjoyed Duke of Edinburgh’s trips – even the walking and the camping!  Years 8 to Year 11 are looking forward to the seven night ski trip planned for April 2020, this will give students the opportunity to enjoy winter sports during February half term.

These are purely samples of the vast array of extra curricular trips offered at Samuel Ryder Academy.
